20DEC22 - SSD Power input is 3.3Volt. 2.5Amp PCIe Gen3 x4 speed. This SSD was sent to us via a computer shop who did not get it to detect. The original problem is that the SSD did not detect in its m.2 slot. Controller problems are supported via Ace. SMD components were tested and found a rail that was short to ground. A working donor SSD was supplied where correct measurements and behaviours were able to be tested. Thermal imaging showed that the controller had no energy flowing to it but slight termal activity was picked up on the 8 pin EK 65 chip. There were 6 ceramic capacitors and a 2H Zener diode on this line. The diode and 8 pin chip were taken out of circuit and tested ok. The faulty component was the ceramic capacitor which only showed thermal activity above half amp. All data was recovered without the need for mcu solutions.
